Rooted in Compassion

Guided by Purpose

At Matsya, we believe that real change begins at the roots in the hands of those closest to the land, the children, and the communities they serve. We fund, support, and uplift small-scale, high-impact projects in conservation, sustainable land use, and climate education across South Asia.

Why we are here?

Everything we do begins with a deep respect for the planet and the belief that local action leads to lasting transformation.

Mission

We fund and support grassroots efforts in conservation, sustainable livelihoods, climate literacy, and rural poverty relief — bridging the gap for local leaders, small organizations, and overlooked communities doing essential work.

The Unseen Struggles

An Unequal Funding Landscape

Across South Asia, grassroots leaders are driving change, but major funding still flows to large institutions. Local NGOs and village-led efforts struggle to raise even modest sums. Thus, their impact remains overlooked and underfunded.

Local Conservation Without Support

Endangered species and regional ecosystems are often protected by forest guards, indigenous groups, and local NGOs — yet they rarely receive the funding or recognition they deserve.

Communities Left to Face Crisis Alone

Rural communities face deforestation, pollution, and human-wildlife conflict with minimal resources to restore or protect their lands.

Unsustainable Land Use & Livelihood Insecurity

Smallholders farmers face soil collapse, climate stress, and unjust systems. Without access to regenerative tools, their land and livelihoods deteriorate together.

A Growing Climate Literacy Gap

Millions of students are growing up amid climate change without understanding it. This lack of education blocks resilience, leadership, and action.

Poverty That Blocks Education

Education alone isn't enough. When poverty forces children to choose work over school and no support systems exists - dreams are deferred before they begin

THE GIVING DISPARITY

In South Asia and much of the Global South funding often flows toward large, internationally-networked NGOs. While these institutions matter, thousands of smaller, community-rooted projects remain underfunded, unseen, and unsupported.

COMMUNITY LED CHANGE

At Matsya, we believe restoration should be led by those who know the land best. Children deserve more than access to education — they deserve real opportunity. And sustainability only works when it’s rooted in people’s lives. That’s why we fund small, community-led efforts — often needing just a few thousand dollars — that create ripple effects for years to come.

NETWORKS & IMPACT

Through close partnerships with regional NGOs, scientists, educators, and on-the-ground leaders, we not only fund — we co-create. Together, we build pathways for growth, knowledge-sharing, and long-term sustainability.

Funding & Scaling Grassroots Change

We’re not here to run the show — we’re here to support those already doing the work. Our model is designed to fund, mentor, and amplify local action.
